Major Gambling Racket Busted in East Delhi, 21 Arrested

New Delhi, 12, March ,2025: In a significant crackdown on illegal gambling, the Northern Range-II (NR-II) Crime Branch of Delhi Police has dismantled a large-scale gambling racket operating in Mandawali, East Delhi. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid on the intervening night of March 10-11, 2025, resulting in the arrest of 21 individuals, including the alleged kingpin, Vinay Rai. A total of Rs. 15,10,500 in stake money was recovered from the site.

Coordinated Police Operation

The operation was led by Inspector Sandeep Swami, with a dedicated team comprising SI Sukhvinder Singh, SI Pankaj Saroha, SI Pardeep Dahiya, SI Balraj, ASI Anil, ASI Sunil, HC Sumit, HC Naval, HC Raj Aryan, HC Parveen Balyan, HC Pardeep Sheokand, HC Sandeep Singroha, and Ct. Yogender. The raid was conducted under the close supervision of ACP Narender Singh Beniwal.

Following the operation, an FIR No. 66/25 was registered under Sections 3/4/5 of the Delhi Public Gambling Act at the Police Station Crime Branch, Delhi.

Details of the Arrested Individuals

The arrested individuals include:

  • Vinay Rai (37), the alleged kingpin, resident of IP Extension, Patparganj, Delhi.
  • Rahisuddin (40), resident of Loni, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
  • Santosh Kumar (40), resident of Shamli, Uttar Pradesh.
  • Asif Khan (65), resident of Okhla, Delhi.
  • Kawaldeep Singh (30), resident of Subash Nagar, Delhi.
  • Anil Sharma (58), resident of Lajpat Nagar-II, Delhi.
  • Anil Kumar (50), resident of Lajpat Nagar-IV, Delhi.
  • Yogesh Kumar (48), resident of Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, UP.
  • Sandeep Kumar (48), resident of Ghaziabad, UP.
  • Rahul Ahuja (37), resident of Kalkaji, Delhi.
  • Several others from different parts of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Seized Items

During the raid, police seized:

  • Rs. 15,10,500 in cash
  • Eight decks of playing cards
  • Three diaries containing gambling records

Police Statement

Delhi Police reaffirmed their commitment to cracking down on illegal gambling activities and ensuring a zero-tolerance policy towards organized crime. “This operation sends a strong message that unlawful activities will not be tolerated, and those involved will be brought to justice,” said DCP Crime, Satish Kumar.

The Crime Branch continues its efforts to dismantle gambling networks operating across the city, with further investigations underway.
