Delhi Jully 29 2024 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other accused in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. The chargesheet was submitted to the Rouse Avenue Court on Monday, marking a significant development in the ongoing probe into the alleged “scam.”
This action follows the extension of Kejriwal’s judicial custody by the court until August 8. Alongside Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha are also in judicial custody over related money laundering allegations linked to the liquor policy case.
The investigation has drawn significant public and political attention, centering on claims of financial misconduct in the implementation of the Delhi excise policy. The CBI’s filing of the chargesheet underscores the intensifying legal proceedings against Kejriwal, which could have major repercussions for Delhi’s political landscape.
The AAP has reacted strongly, asserting that Kejriwal is being treated as a “political prisoner.” AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak highlighted concerns about Kejriwal’s health, stating that his blood sugar levels had dropped to 50 nearly 34 times between June 3 and July 7. Pathak described the situation as a “conspiracy” against the party leader.
