UGC-NET examination must be conducted as soon as possible; NTA shouldn’t play with Students’ future: Dr. Rahul Mishra

Faridabad, 21 June, 2024- Amidst row over the UGC NET exam on June 18, 2024 which wss cancelled due to suspected discrepancies,
several leading personalities have danded that fresh dates of the UGC-NET examination must be announced at the earliest by NTA, so that the students’ future is not jeopardised.

Talking to The Impressive Times in Faridabad, Dr. Rahul Mishra said that
the NTA hastily organized the UGC NET exam. Less than 24 hours after the exam, with many students yet to reach their homes, the announcement came at 6 PM on June 19 that the UGC NET paper had been canceled. He added that it is a clear case of playing with the futures of the students. The next steps for the students and the NTA remain uncertain. According to him, the critical issue is why the NTA conducted the exam when many educators across the country had apprehensions about potential issues. Many people had also trended on social media platforms to postpone the exam. Moreover, in the last five years, since the exams have been conducted online, no major scams or discrepancies have come to light. However, this time, the NTA decided to conduct the exam offline, which has a higher possibility of paper leaks.

Rausing the concerns of UGC NET aspirants, Dr. Rahul Gupta stated that the NTA should resolve this issue promptly. The students’ futures should not be played with, and the exam should be reconducted as soon as possible.

The UGC NET exam is conducted biannually, in June and December. The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for organizing this exam, has recently faced allegations of leaking the NEET exam papers, leading to nationwide protests after the issue reached the Supreme Court.
