India Sends Strong Global Message: Zero Tolerance for Cross-Border Terrorism, Says Shashi Tharoor

New Delhi : Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has affirmed that India has adopted a new and assertive approach to tackling cross-border terrorism, especially emanating from Pakistan. Speaking at a community event in New York hosted by the Consulate General of India, Tharoor declared that “anyone involved in such crimes will not go unpunished.” He emphasized that “no one sitting in Pakistan should believe they can cross the border and kill our citizens with impunity. There will be a price to pay—and that price has been going up systematically.”

The remarks came as part of a wider outreach by multiple all-party delegations visiting countries around the world to highlight India’s unwavering resolve against terrorism. Tharoor, who led the delegation in the United States, also visited the 9/11 Memorial in New York along with other members in a spirit of solidarity. The delegation met with prominent members of the Indian-American community, influential media figures, and think tank representatives. Tharoor also met Guyana’s Vice-President Bharrat Jagdeo, who expressed strong support for India’s stance and discussed broader cooperation in development efforts.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar acknowledged the efforts of these delegations, stating on social media that “India stands together in declaring zero tolerance for terrorism.”

In Bahrain, BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda led a delegation that briefed Bahrain’s Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa on the threat of cross-border terrorism and reiterated India’s commitment to combating it. In South Korea, JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha led another delegation which shared insights about Operation Sindoor with the Indian diaspora. The team firmly stated that peace and dialogue with Pakistan cannot proceed while terrorism persists.

Meanwhile, in Qatar, NCP MP Supriya Sule led a delegation that met Dr. Hamda Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, and other parliamentarians, echoing India’s firm message on terror. In Slovenia, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi led a similar mission titled “Taking Bharat’s Message to the World.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his monthly radio address Mann ki Baat, called Operation Sindoor a reflection of a changing India—resolute, courageous, and globally respected. Praising the military’s precision in targeting terrorist hideouts, he said the operation showcased India’s growing strength and strategic clarity.
