New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Rising North East Investors Summit in New Delhi today, a landmark event aimed at boosting investment and economic development across the eight northeastern states of India. The two-day summit is being organised by the Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), in collaboration with various state governments from the region and key industry stakeholders.
The event is the culmination of several pre-summit engagements, including a series of domestic and international roadshows, focused roundtables with states, the Ambassador’s Meet, and interactions with bilateral chambers of commerce. These efforts were strategically organised to highlight the untapped economic potential of the North East and to encourage meaningful investment from both Indian and global business communities.
Held at Pragati Maidan, the summit will witness participation from Union ministers, chief ministers of North Eastern states, top government officials, foreign dignitaries, ambassadors, and leading investors across sectors like agriculture, tourism, textiles, IT, infrastructure, energy, and healthcare.
According to officials, the summit is not just a platform for investment promotion but also a forum for collaborative development planning, policy dialogue, and knowledge exchange. Key sessions will address topics such as sustainable infrastructure, connectivity and logistics, cultural and creative industries, and climate-resilient agriculture. Special focus will also be given to startup ecosystems and MSME growth in the region.
The Rising North East Investors Summit reflects the central government’s strategic priority to integrate the region more closely with the rest of India’s economic landscape. It aligns with the government’s Act East Policy and the broader goal of making the North East a gateway to Southeast Asian markets.
Ahead of the event, Union Minister for DoNER, G. Kishan Reddy, said the summit would play a vital role in transforming the North East into a hub of investment, innovation, and entrepreneurship. “This summit demonstrates our resolve to convert the region’s rich resources, cultural diversity, and youthful energy into engines of growth,” he stated.
The Prime Minister is expected to deliver the keynote address, unveiling a series of policy incentives, MoUs, and developmental roadmaps aimed at fast-tracking infrastructure, digital connectivity, and sustainable development in the region.
