IMD Forecasts Weather Changes: Dense Fog, Light Rain, and Temperature Rise Across India

New Delhi : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for dense fog conditions in several regions today, including Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. The department also predicted that isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Coastal Odisha, and Bihar could experience similar foggy conditions for the next two to three days.

The forecast for the coming days includes light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. These conditions are expected to persist for the next two days, as per the IMD’s advisory. The department has also highlighted the possibility of a temperature rise of 2-4 degrees Celsius in areas like Northwest, Central, and East India over the next four days, contributing to a warmer climate in these regions.

While the dense fog conditions are expected to disrupt normal life, especially in the affected regions, authorities have advised caution for travelers and commuters, urging them to stay updated on the weather alerts. Additionally, with the rise in temperatures, residents of the affected areas should be prepared for fluctuating weather conditions and adjust their routines accordingly.

The IMD also recommended that local authorities in regions forecasted to experience heavy fog or rainfall remain vigilant and take preventive measures to minimize the impacts of these weather phenomena. This includes ensuring the safety of travelers, especially those on highways or in regions with reduced visibility.

As the fog is expected to persist for several days, there are also concerns about its impact on air travel, with delays or cancellations possible at major airports, particularly in Delhi, Punjab, and parts of Uttar Pradesh. The dense fog could also affect rail and road transport, leading to disruptions in movement across major routes.

With the changing weather conditions, the IMD has called on residents to stay informed through weather updates and take necessary precautions against the effects of cold weather, fog, and rainfall.
