As the Border-Gavaskar Trophy approaches, cricket legend Kapil Dev has offered important advice to Team India: approach the game without succumbing to pressure. This statement comes as reports indicate that both captain Rohit Sharma and batter Shubman Gill will miss the opening Test match against Australia in Perth.
Rohit Sharma will be absent for the first Test as he stays home for the birth of his second child but is expected to return for the second match in Adelaide starting December 4. Shubman Gill, however, is ruled out due to a left-hand injury he sustained while fielding during a practice game.
Kapil Dev, expressing confidence in the team, encouraged the players to perform with freedom and ignore external stress. “I want to wish the team the best of luck. Don’t overthink, just play with confidence. Those who perform well will come out victorious. There is no need for undue pressure,” Dev commented.
The highly anticipated series is set to begin on November 22 in Perth. Following the first match, the competition will proceed with a day-night Test in Adelaide from December 6 to 10. The third Test is scheduled at The Gabba in Brisbane from December 14 to 18.
Fans are also looking forward to the Boxing Day Test, which will be held at Melbourne’s renowned cricket ground from December 26 to 30. The series will wrap up with the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7, promising an intense and memorable conclusion to this celebrated rivalry.
India’s squad for the series boasts key players, including captain Rohit Sharma, vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, and prominent cricketers like Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant.
