CM Arvind Kejriwal has approached the SC seeking bail in connection with the CBI excise policy case

New Delhi : Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal approached the Supreme Court seeking bail in the corruption case tied to the excise policy, which has been under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CBI has alleged that Kejriwal is the key figure in the purported scam, suggesting he had substantial influence that could affect witnesses and obstruct the investigation.

Senior advocate A.M. Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, appeared before Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud and made an oral request for an urgent hearing. Singhvi urged that the case be heard on August 13, emphasizing the need for a swift judicial review of the bail application due to the case’s high-profile nature and the potential impact on Kejriwal’s political and personal life.

The Supreme Court’s response to this urgent plea will be crucial in determining the immediate legal course of action, including whether Kejriwal will be granted bail while the case is ongoing. The outcome could have significant implications for both the investigation and Kejriwal’s role as Delhi.
