At the 8th India International Footwear Fair 2024 in New Delhi, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized India’s rise as the second-largest footwear manufacturer globally. He articulated a clear vision for the country to become the world’s top footwear producer, highlighting India’s potential to achieve this through the adoption of advanced manufacturing techniques, sustainable practices, and continuous innovation.
Minister Goyal underscored the significant growth opportunities within the footwear sector, projecting that India could reach a $50 billion export milestone by 2030. He assured the industry of the government’s ongoing support, stressing the importance of aligning with global standards to enhance competitiveness.
In his address, Goyal encouraged manufacturers to take full advantage of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that India has negotiated with various countries, enabling easier access to international markets. The fair, organized by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), brings together 200 exhibitors, showcasing a diverse and vibrant range of footwear products that reflect the creativity and innovation of the Indian industry.
Minister Goyal also invited industry stakeholders to share their innovative ideas and suggestions with the government, reinforcing the collaborative approach needed to drive the sector forward. He highlighted the role of sustainability in future growth, urging the industry to adopt eco-friendly practices that align with global environmental goals. The event serves as a platform for industry professionals, manufacturers, and designers to network, exchange ideas, and explore new business opportunities, all while showcasing India’s potential to lead the global footwear market.
