CBI has filed a chargesheet against 13 individuals accused in the NEET-UG entrance examination paper leak case in Bihar

The CBI has filed its first chargesheet against 13 accused in the NEET-UG entrance examination paper leak case in Bihar. The agency has charged mastermind Manish Prakash, Sikander Yadvendu, and 11 others under sections 120-B, 201, 409, 380, 411, 420, and 109 of the IPC. The Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of Bihar police had initially busted the organized inter-state gang involved in the paper leak. The case was initially registered at Shastri Nagar Police Station in Patna in May this year and was transferred to the CBI on June 23.

The CBI has utilized advanced forensic techniques, artificial intelligence, CCTV footage, tower location analysis, and other tools to gather evidence against the accused. Further investigation is ongoing against other suspects, and supplementary chargesheets will be filed as investigations conclude. Several accused are already in police or judicial custody.

So far, the central investigation agency has arrested 40 individuals in connection with this case, including 15 by Bihar Police, and conducted searches at 58 locations. The investigation revealed that the question papers were leaked from a center in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, a day before the scheduled examination date.
