SC has directed IIT Delhi to form an expert panel to examine the controversy surrounding the Physics questions in the NEET-UG exam

The Supreme Court has instructed IIT Delhi to form an expert panel to review the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) decision to treat two options as correct for a Physics question in this year’s NEET-UG examination. Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud directed that the expert panel’s opinion be submitted to the Apex Court’s registrar by 12 noon today.

This directive follows petitions alleging irregularities in the NEET-UG exam, particularly concerning the award of grace marks for the contentious Physics question. The petitioners argued that 44 candidates received full marks due to the ambiguous question and that the NTA’s decision to award compensatory marks contradicts its own instruction for students to follow the latest NCERT textbook. The matter will be further heard today.
