CBI Arrests Suspects Involved in NEET-UG Paper Theft from NTA Truck

New Delhi, July 16, 2024 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made significant progress in the investigation into the theft of NEET-UG question papers, culminating in the arrest of two individuals.

Pankaj Kumar from Patna and Raju Singh from Hazaribagh were apprehended by the CBI for their alleged roles in the theft and subsequent circulation of the NEET-UG question papers, as reported by India Today.

Earlier this month, the CBI had arrested Rakesh Ranjan alias Rocky, believed to be a key figure in the NEET paper leak, from Nalanda, Bihar. The agency’s investigation has expanded with raids conducted in Patna and Kolkata, resulting in multiple arrests.

The CBI’s efforts have focused on leveraging advanced investigative techniques, including digital forensics and analysis of electronic communications, to unravel the conspiracy surrounding the NEET-UG exam irregularities.

The NEET-UG exam, conducted on May 5, 2024, was mired in controversy due to allegations of cheating and paper leaks. Subsequent investigations revealed discrepancies in the evaluation process, raising concerns about the integrity of the examination system.

In response to these issues, the government took decisive action by removing the chief of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and initiating reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in the conduct of national-level exams.

The arrests made by the CBI mark a significant breakthrough in addressing the NEET-UG paper leak case, signaling the agency’s commitment to upholding the integrity of competitive examinations in the country.
