“Invest in Tourism Sector in Bihar, the Government is with You,” says Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra

Investment Meet and Bihar Tourism Roadshow Held in New Delhi

New Delhi, June 14, 2024 – In a bid to promote investment and extensive publicity in the tourism sector, an Investment Meet and Roadshow was conducted in the national capital, New Delhi, on Friday. The event was held at Ashoka Hotel in Chanakyapuri.

Addressing the Investment Meet, Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri Nitish Mishra emphasized that Bihar is not only rich in heritage but is also developing rapidly. “Come and invest in Bihar without hesitation; the government will support you at every step. We are organizing investment sessions along with roadshows across the country, with the next event scheduled in Kolkata next month. Famous groups like Taj, Hyatt, and Sarovar have already invested here. Join us, and you will receive direct subsidies and numerous other benefits. Being from Mithila, I assure you of Mithila’s warm hospitality,” he said.


Tourism Secretary Shri Abhay Kumar Singh, while addressing the event, shared insights about the plans, programs, and policies implemented by the Bihar Tourism Department with businesspersons, travel agents, tour operators, and hoteliers based in Delhi. He highlighted that substantial work is being done in terms of infrastructure across all tourism circuits in Bihar, coupled with policy-level enhancements, including subsidies and various facilities in the tourism sector. “The positive outcomes are evident, and we are working to improve them further,” he remarked.

Resident Commissioner Shri Kundan Kumar noted that the new industrial policy of the Bihar government has created numerous opportunities for investors. This has significantly boosted industrial investment. “Over Rs 50,000 crore worth of MoUs were signed at Bihar Business Connect 2023, leading to increased investments in both general industrial activities and the tourism sector, thereby improving the overall landscape,” he said. Shri Kundan Kumar also mentioned that as the Resident Commissioner and Investment Commissioner, he is always available to address any concerns investors might have.

Tourism Corporation Managing Director Shri Nand Kishore talked about the details of tourism policy, saying that tour operators or hoteliers from any state only require establish an office in Bihar and obtain GST registration. This will enable them to avail grants up to Rs 25 crore for constructing hotels, theme restaurants and parks, meditation centers, golf courses, rural villages, and more.

In his vote of thanks, Bihar Tourism Director Shri Vinay Kumar Rai noted that 82.1 million domestic and international tourists visited Bihar in 2023. “We aim to improve this figure further,” he said. The event included a PowerPoint presentation on the new tourism policy of Bihar, current developments in tourist facilities, and a Q&A session where the Tourism Secretary addressed all stakeholders’ queries. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Bihar Tourism Corporation’s GM Shri Abhijeet Kumar.
