Delhi- On the occasion of Prime Minister  Narendra Modi ’s birthday Seva Pakhwada is being observed from 17 September to 2 October. As part of this, Delhi’s Education Minister  Ashish Sood participated in a cleanliness drive under the flyover on Ring Road in front of Rajdhani College. The aim of this campaign was to spread awareness about cleanliness among the public. On this occasion, the Minister himself joined municipal workers and several volunteers from Janakpuri Assembly to clear heaps of garbage, debris, and stones that had been lying under the flyover for years.

Sood said that under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, the government has resolved to make Ring Road and its adjoining areas clean and beautiful before Diwali. Until now, the areas under and around flyovers often remained neglected, as sanitation workers usually dumped waste there and moved on. Today, hundreds of volunteers participated in shramdaan (voluntary labour) to completely clean up these neglected spaces and make them as clean as the courtyards of our homes. With this spirit of public service, we are serving the citizens of Delhi.

He further informed that under Seva Pakhwada, the Delhi Government has initiated over 75 new public services including hospital modernization, an increase in the number of dialysis machines, deployment of Quick Reaction Vehicles at fire stations, and renovation of bus depots. The purpose of these initiatives is to make life easier and more convenient for the people of Delhi. Today’s cleanliness drive is a part of this same resolve that service should not remain only on paper but must be visible on the ground.

Sood emphasized that cleanliness drives should not be limited to a single day, week, or month, but must become a part of our daily routine. Only then will such campaigns hold true significance. Joining the Clean Delhi Campaign under Seva Pakhwada is not just a duty but our small contribution to nation-building. Let us all come together to celebrate Seva as a festival and take a pledge for cleanliness.

The Minister also directed police and MCD officials present at the site to prioritize regular patrolling to prevent illegal encroachments and criminal activities under the flyover. He further suggested planting trees and shrubs to beautify the area. He reminded everyone that keeping it clean is our collective responsibility. Stressing the direct link between cleanliness and health, he urged people to maintain hygiene in their surroundings to reduce the spread of diseases.
