Vidya Balan Embraces Acting Break with ‘Shameless Optimism’, Says She’s Not Weighed Down by Insecurity

Actor Vidya Balan is embracing a new chapter in her life—one defined by peace, self-assurance, and the freedom to choose. In a recent interview with THR India, the acclaimed actor shared insights into her break from acting, stating that she feels no pressure or insecurity about being out of the limelight.

“I think I am shamelessly optimistic. I have so much self-belief,” Vidya said. “I’ve put myself out there at my biggest and never batted an eyelid. I’ve had people suggest I should change or lose weight, but I believe there’s nothing wrong with me. That attitude has helped me sail through the ups and downs.”

Known for breaking stereotypes in Bollywood, Vidya has always challenged conventional beauty standards and continues to be a symbol of confidence. Currently, she is enjoying the luxury of choosing projects at her own pace, reading scripts, meeting creatives, and finalizing two upcoming films.

“For the first time in my life, I’m not experiencing stress. I’m enjoying this period—staying home, making fun reels, and just being,” she shared.

Vidya was last seen in the blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024), alongside Kartik Aaryan and Madhuri Dixit, which grossed over ₹400 crore. She also garnered praise for her performance in Do Aur Do Pyaar with Pratik Gandhi.

She is set to return to the big screen with Raja Shivaji, a historical drama directed by Riteish Deshmukh, starring alongside Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, and Genelia D’Souza. The film is scheduled to release on May 1 next year.
