UP Education System Transformed Since 2017, Says CM Yogi at School Chalo Abhiyan Launch

Chief Minister highlights improved infrastructure, rising enrolment and declining dropout rates in state schools

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday outlined the major changes in the state’s education sector over the past nine years, stating that government schools have undergone a significant transformation since 2017.

Addressing a gathering during the launch of the “School Chalo Abhiyan” in Varanasi, the Chief Minister said that earlier, many council-run schools were struggling with poor infrastructure and low student attendance. He noted that several institutions were on the brink of closure due to declining enrolment and lack of basic amenities.

Highlighting the progress made, Adityanath said that initiatives like Operation Kayakalp have helped upgrade school facilities across the state. Today, a large number of schools are equipped with essential infrastructure such as clean classrooms, toilets, drinking water, and proper furniture, creating a more conducive learning environment.

He also pointed out that student enrolment has seen a sharp rise, with millions of new students joining schools in recent years. The dropout rate, which was once a major concern, has been significantly reduced through targeted efforts and awareness campaigns.

The Chief Minister credited programmes like the Nipun Bharat Mission and early childhood education initiatives for improving foundational learning among children. He added that financial assistance provided directly to parents for school essentials has further encouraged regular attendance.

In addition, welfare schemes such as the Mid-Day Meal programme have played a crucial role in attracting children to schools by ensuring proper nutrition.
Emphasising the importance of education in nation-building, Adityanath urged teachers and community members to actively participate in enrolling every child in school. He called for a collective effort to ensure that no child in the state is left out of the education system.
