“The real test of governance lies beyond debate; it lies in whether our policies actually address the concerns of ordinary citizens and improve their daily lives” — Vijender Gupta

SRCC Alumnus and Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta Delivers Keynote Address at “Minductor 14.0”

New Delhi, 9 March 2026 : Returning to his alma mater with a powerful call for intellectual honesty and public responsibility, the Hon’ble Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta, graced Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) today as the Chief Guest for “Minductor 14.0,” organized by the Human Resource Development Cell. Addressing a vibrant gathering of students, faculty, and aspiring leaders, Gupta reflected on his formative years at the institution while outlining a sophisticated vision for leadership, governance, and the vital role of young minds in shaping the future of public policy and nation-building.

In a thought-provoking keynote address, Gupta emphasized that the essence of a thriving democracy is the transition from political debate to meaningful policy execution. He noted that while diverse viewpoints and disagreements are natural in a democracy, the ultimate benchmark of success is the tangible impact of laws on the common man. He further observed that for legislative institutions, this responsibility is particularly significant, as assemblies and parliaments exist so that public issues may be examined with seriousness and care.

“A Viksit Bharat is defined by institutions that function with integrity and laws that protect the dignity of every citizen” said Hon’ble Speaker. While connecting the academic excellence of SRCC to the national mission of Viksit Bharat, Shri Gupta argued that a developed nation is defined by more than just economic indicators. He highlighted that true development stems from institutional integrity, policies that expand opportunity, and a culture of dialogue that sustains democratic governance. He remarked that when diverse perspectives are heard and debated with civility, public policy becomes more balanced, more durable, and serves as a forum where collective wisdom gradually takes form.

Gupta said “Your ideas must be guided by intellectual honesty and a commitment to the larger good”. Addressing the students directly as the future architects of India’s economic and administrative landscape, the Hon’ble Speaker reminded them that the journey toward Viksit Bharat 2047 rests on their shoulders. He encouraged the “bright and thoughtful young minds” of SRCC, the future economists, administrators, and entrepreneurs to view their professional roles through the lens of public responsibility.

Gupta concluded by noting that if their ideas are guided by a commitment to the larger good, the vision of a Viksit Bharat, where governance is purposeful and laws truly serve the people, will steadily move closer to reality.
