New Delhi, 10 May 2025– In a recent announcement, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other aviation authorities have declared the temporary suspension of civil flight operations at 32 airports in northern and western regions of India. This decision, which is set to take effect from the 9th to the 14th of May 2025, will also extend to selected air routes due to operational constraints.
The affected airports include major hubs like Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jammu, Leh, and Srinagar, as well as smaller regional airports such as Bathinda, Keshod, and Naliya. This temporary halt in operations will apply to all civil flight activities, both departing and arriving, at these locations.

In addition to the suspension at the airports, a temporary closure of 25 specific segments of Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs) has been imposed. This restriction will affect flight operations from ground level to unlimited altitude, with these route segments remaining closed until 2359 UTC on 14 May 2025 (which is 0529 IST on 15 May 2025).
Given this disruption, airlines and flight operators have been advised to re-route their flights and adjust schedules in line with the updated air traffic advisories to ensure safety. Authorities are working closely with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) units to manage the suspension efficiently and minimize any further disruptions to air travel.
The suspension is primarily due to operational reasons and will be in place until the stated date, after which flight operations are expected to resume as usual. Passengers are advised to stay informed about their flight status and consult their respective airlines for any changes to their travel plans.
