Faridabad, February 8: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has expressed deep grief over the tragic accident at the Surajkund International Crafts Fair in Faridabad, where a swing collapse led to the death of a police officer and injuries to several visitors. Taking immediate cognisance of the incident, the Chief Minister announced a series of relief measures for the affected families and injured persons.
Reacting to the incident from Kurukshetra, the Chief Minister described the accident as extremely distressing and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family of Inspector Jagdish Prasad, who lost his life while performing duty. Inspector Jagdish Prasad was posted at Chandhat Police Station in Palwal district.
Assuring full support to the bereaved family, CM Saini stated that the state government stands firmly with the family in this hour of grief. To ensure long-term financial stability, one eligible member of the martyr’s family will be provided a government job.
Sharing updates on the condition of the injured, the Chief Minister informed that eight injured persons were admitted to a private hospital, out of which four have been discharged after receiving treatment, while the remaining four are undergoing medical care under close supervision. Additionally, four injured individuals admitted to BK Civil Hospital have also been discharged following treatment.
The Chief Minister announced financial assistance of ₹1 lakh each for those who sustained serious injuries in the accident. Other injured persons will be provided relief as per government norms.
Expressing concern over public safety, CM Saini directed officials to strictly enforce safety protocols at fairs and large public events across the state. He ordered a comprehensive inspection of all rides and mechanical installations, including fitness certification, technical audits, and operational checks, and sought a detailed report to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
Emphasising that the safety of citizens is the government’s top priority, the Chief Minister warned that negligence at any level would not be tolerated. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing all possible assistance to the victims and their families.
