Faridabad: A comprehensive review meeting was convened on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vikram Singh to ensure the successful implementation of the STAR-NCD (Systematic Training and Awareness Raising on Non-Communicable Diseases) program, initiated by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for the effective management of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension in the district.
During the meeting, senior officials and representatives from the health department deliberated on the framework of the STAR-NCD program and formulated a strategic plan for its effective rollout in Faridabad. Key discussions were held on launching awareness campaigns at the community level, ensuring early identification and management of patients, and guaranteeing the availability of essential medicines and diagnostic tools.
DC Vikram Singh instructed that the complete framework for the STAR-NCD program be finalized and a coordination mechanism established among all stakeholders including ESI Hospital, Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and private hospitals. He emphasized the need for a unified action plan based on thorough discussions to facilitate smooth and effective implementation across the district.
He further directed health officials to instruct patients to carry their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) cards during health checkups. This, he said, would allow for accurate assessment of medical history, enabling physicians to prescribe the correct dosage and treatment duration, thereby improving the precision and effectiveness of medical care.
DC also called for a feasibility assessment of running HBA1C testing services under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. He instructed that all government hospitals, including ESI, CHCs, and PHCs, be equipped with essential medicines to ensure timely treatment of patients.
Underscoring the importance of standardized healthcare, the DC directed that all healthcare providers be adequately informed about drug-related treatment protocols so patients receive quality and standardized medical services.
To improve transparency and ease in medical treatment, DC Vikram Singh stressed the need for linking all hospitals in Faridabad to the ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) portal. He asked officials to coordinate with higher authorities and obtain necessary approvals for the same, enabling a robust digital health identity system for patients.
The meeting was attended by ADC Satbir Mann, CTM Ankit Kumar, health department officials, the district NCD nodal officer, hospital representatives, and other departmental officials.
