New Delhi, September 10, 2025 – The Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta, called on the newly elected 15th Vice President of India, C.P. Radhakrishnan, at his official residence in New Delhi. The meeting was marked by warm exchanges of goodwill and discussions on institutional reforms within the legislative framework.
Extending his heartfelt wishes, Gupta lauded the Vice President’s remarkable journey in public life. He noted that Radhakrishnan’s “vast experience, unwavering commitment to service, and steadfast dedication to democratic principles” would serve as a guiding force for the nation.
During the interaction, the Delhi Assembly Speaker shared insights into a series of transformative initiatives undertaken by the House. Prominent among them was the successful hosting of the All India Speaker’s Conference 2025, commemorating the centenary year of Vithalbhai Patel, the first Indian elected Speaker of a legislative body. Gupta emphasized that such national-level deliberations play a crucial role in strengthening India’s parliamentary traditions.

He also apprised the Vice President of the Delhi Assembly’s pioneering move towards becoming a fully digital legislature under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) framework. The initiative aims to create a paperless, technology-driven environment that enhances transparency, accountability, and efficiency in legislative functioning.

Looking beyond digital reforms, Gupta unveiled the vision of developing the Delhi Assembly into a heritage complex. The project, he said, seeks to conserve the institution’s architectural and historical significance while seamlessly integrating modern facilities to meet contemporary needs.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both leaders to upholding democratic values and promoting reforms that align with India’s evolving governance needs.
