New Delhi | July 11, 2025 — Defence Minister  Rajnath Singh chaired the first Governing Council Meeting of the National Cadet Corps Alumni Association (NCCAA) at South Block, New Delhi. The high-level meeting marked a major step towards uniting former and current NCC cadets under one umbrella to further strengthen their role in nation-building.

The NCC Alumni Association (NCCAA) is a flagship initiative that aims to engage the vibrant and disciplined community of ex-NCC cadets in national development programs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds the distinction of being the first registered member of the NCCAA, followed by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh as the second alumni.

In his address, Rajnath Singh called NCC a powerful platform for youth empowerment, saying, “NCC cadets are not passive observers; they are active drivers of India’s progress.” He urged the organisation to expand its influence beyond cadet ranks through the “NCC Plus” initiative, ensuring that the core values of discipline, unity, and patriotism reach youth across the country—even those who could not be part of NCC.

“NCCAA will infuse new energy and direction into the NCC by integrating the vast experience of its alumni,” the Raksha Mantri stated, underlining the importance of involving ex-cadets in mentoring and national service.

Highlighting the relevance of the association in government outreach programs, Rajnath Singh suggested that NCCAA be actively engaged in:

  • Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat

  • Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

  • Community development and social service initiatives

These engagements, he said, would ensure that NCC’s impact reaches deep into society, especially in rural and underrepresented regions.

Reiterating the motto of NCC — “Unity & Discipline” — the Minister praised its role in shaping the lives of lakhs of youth, especially those from remote areas. “NCC has always stood as a symbol of national unity, and its cadets continue to uphold the values of discipline, service, and patriotism,” he said.
