New Delhi – BJP national spokesperson Rajeev Jaitly has launched a strong rebuttal to Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala, accusing him of misleading the public and pursuing a personal vendetta not against the BJP but against Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a senior Congress figure and former Chief Minister of Haryana. “Randeep Surjewala is actually targeting Bhupinder Hooda, not us. It’s an internal Congress issue disguised as an attack on the BJP,” said Jaitly in a pointed remark that underscores the simmering tensions within the opposition.
He slammed the law and order record during Hooda’s term, alleging that gangsters were emboldened and enjoyed political protection under previous Congress governments. “Haryana became a hub of gangsters during Bhupinder Hooda’s tenure,” Jaitly stated, adding, “They were protected by the state itself.”
Drawing a clear contrast, Jaitly said, “When the BJP government under Manohar Lal Khattar came to power, we began a serious crackdown and eliminated the gangster ecosystem.” He lauded the current Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, saying the state is now witnessing direct encounters with gangsters under his leadership. “Today, the government under CM Saini is acting tough. The mafia is either behind bars or facing direct action.” Taking a swipe at Surjewala, Jaitly added, “The people of Haryana have chosen a smiling, humble, and connected leader in CM Nayab Saini and that’s something Surjewala cannot digest.”
In defense of the BJP-led administration, Jaitly shared crime data, asserting, “From 2012 to 2014, Haryana recorded the highest number of murders and robberies, all under Hooda’s watch.” He advised Surjewala to address his real issue with Hooda instead of falsely attacking the BJP. “If he has personal issues with Bhupinder Hooda, he should issue press releases against him, not fabricate narratives against the state government.” He also highlighted the pro-people schemes that have been implemented under the BJP’s rule in Haryana. He cited Ayushman Bharat, which has provided free medical treatment to lakhs of low-income families, and the Jal Jeevan Mission, which has expanded tap water access in rural homes. He further pointed to the success of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao in promoting girls’ education and safety, PM Awas Yojana for housing benefits to the poor, and youth-focused skill development programs that are preparing the next generation for employment and entrepreneurship.
“These are not just welfare announcements, these are schemes that have reached the common people, improving lives on the ground. That is the real change,” Jaitly affirmed. Rajeev Jaitly concluded by urging Surjewala to “stop misguiding the public” and instead “talk to the people directly to understand how the BJP government is working on the ground and gaining their trust.”
