Dirba (Sangrur), 30 November– Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today dedicated to the public a state-of-the-art multi-storied sub-divisional complex built in a record time of 18 months at a cost of Rs 10.80 crore, setting a new benchmark in public service delivery.
Dedicating the four-storied building which will house SDM, Tehsildar, BDPO, DSP, CDPO and other offices, the Chief Minister said that he had laid the foundation stone of the project in May 2023 and it was completed in record time. Spread over an area of nine acres, the project will provide citizen-centric services in a time-bound manner. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that such modern tehsil complexes are being built across the state for the convenience of people.
The Chief Minister said that the previous governments never paid attention to such steps to serve the people. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that earlier the reins of the state were in the wrong hands, due to which the state suffered great losses. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government has given priority to public service since assuming power.
The Chief Minister announced that such buildings are being constructed keeping in mind the needs of the future. He said that the state government has saved one and a half crore rupees in the construction of this building compared to the estimated cost. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that similarly, a sub-division complex is also being constructed in Cheema, which will soon be dedicated to the public.
The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride and satisfaction for him that 49,427 youth have been given government jobs so far and appointment letters will be handed over to 700 other candidates in Patiala on December 3. The Chief Minister said that these youths have got jobs purely on the basis of merit. Mann said that the recruitment process has been conducted in a completely fair and transparent manner.
The Chief Minister said that due to the public interest initiative of the state government, reverse migration of youth is being seen in Punjab. The youth settled abroad are now returning to the state for government jobs. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the trust of the youth towards the government has increased due to the transparent recruitment process, due to which they are preparing for government jobs here, leaving the idea of going abroad. He said that it is on record
Contrary to the old trend of going abroad, there is a huge increase in the enrollment of youth in the educational institutions of the state.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is working with full energy for the convenience of the people. Rural roads are being renovated under this effort. He said that these roads have a great contribution to economic development and they provide immense convenience to the people of rural areas. Emphasizing the construction of these roads, Bhagwant Mann said that many of these roads had completed their six-year period, but they had not been renovated.
The Chief Minister said that when he took charge, only 21 percent of canal water was being utilized in the state. However, today it is a matter of pride and satisfaction that today this figure has reached 84 percent. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that due to the tireless efforts of the state government, the ground water level is improving and according to the central report, the water level has increased by one meter.
The Chief Minister called upon the farmers to get out of the wheat-paddy crop cycle and adopt crop diversification. He said that the central government should guarantee minimum support price to farmers on alternative crops to encourage crop diversification. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state of Punjab ensures food security in the country by contributing 180 lakh metric tonnes of rice to the central pool.
The Chief Minister said that the farmers of Punjab, who provide food security to the country, are held responsible for spreading pollution. He described it as completely unfair, as the hardworking farmers of the state have played an important role in making the country self-sufficient in food production.
The Chief Minister said that health, education, electricity, water and infrastructure are the five major priorities of his government. He clarified that these facilities are not free as people pay huge amount as tax. He said that the state government has returned public money to the public in the form of these facilities. He said that earlier this money used to go to the houses of politicians, but now it is being used for public service.
A sharp attack on the opposition
Citing the results of the by-elections, the Chief Minister said that it has proved that the people have complete faith in the Aam Aadmi Party government. He said that the wise people of the state have removed the dramatic leaders from power and elected representatives who speak for their interests. Bhagwant Singh Mann reiterated that traditional parties are jealous of him because he belongs to a common family.
The Chief Minister said that these leaders believe that they have divine authority over the state and that is why they cannot accept that an Aam Aadmi is running the state so efficiently. He said that these leaders have fooled people for a long time, but now people will not fall for their misleading propaganda. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is true that these political leaders educated in convent schools can never be aware of the basic needs of the state.
