Lucknow, March 19, 2026: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the upcoming Noida International Airport on March 28, stating that the facility is fully prepared to begin domestic and cargo operations.
Speaking at an event in the state capital, the chief minister highlighted that the airport, located in Jewar, is set to become the largest in the country and is expected to significantly boost Uttar Pradesh’s economy, potentially generating substantial revenue for the state.
However, officials indicated that confirmation from the Prime Minister’s Office is still awaited regarding the proposed inauguration date, leaving the final schedule uncertain for now.
Adityanath also underlined the state’s rapid infrastructure growth, noting that Uttar Pradesh now has multiple operational metro networks across cities such as Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, along with an expanding network of airports.
Meanwhile, district authorities in Gautam Budh Nagar have intensified preparations to ensure the airport’s operational readiness. A recent review meeting assessed emergency response systems, coordination mechanisms, and compliance with aviation safety standards.
Officials stressed the need for seamless coordination among agencies including fire services, health departments, disaster management teams, and aviation authorities to effectively handle any emergency situation once operations commence.
Healthcare preparedness was also a key focus, with plans being strengthened for coordination between hospitals, ambulance services, and airport health units to respond to potential large-scale emergencies.
Authorities have also enforced strict safety measures around the airport zone, including a complete ban on drone operations and laser lights within a defined radius to prevent risks to flight safety.
In addition, local bodies have been directed to maintain environmental and cleanliness standards in surrounding areas, while development authorities are ensuring that construction regulations and airspace safety norms are strictly followed.
With final checks underway, the Noida International Airport project is nearing completion, positioning itself as a major infrastructure milestone for the state and a key addition to India’s aviation network.
