PM Modi’s ‘Khelo India’ initiative has become a boon for athletes: Shri Ravinder Indraj Singh

Delhi: 27 May 2025 :  Minister for Social Welfare, SC/ST Welfare, Elections, and Cooperation Shri Ravinder Indraj Singh On Tuesday attended the closing ceremony of Delhi Games 2025 at Talkatora Stadium as a special guest alongside Rajya Sabha MP Shri Arun Singh.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Ravinder Indraj Singh praised the athletes and highlighted how under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the sports budget has seen a threefold increase over the past decade. A significant portion of this enhanced budget has been invested in developing sports infrastructure and modern facilities. Over 1,000 Khelo India centers have been established across the country, enabling grassroots talent identification and providing young athletes with vital support. The initiative has also revitalized traditional Indian sports by bringing them into the national and international spotlight.
He noted that India’s best-ever performance at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, where the nation secured 7 medals, reflects the success of these efforts. He further shared that India is now striving to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
The Minister emphasized that Delhi Games 2025 has played a crucial role in raising awareness about sports and inspiring youth in the capital. This event has helped position Delhi as a significant hub on both the national and international sports map.

Outstanding performers from various sporting disciplines were honored during the ceremony, which also featured cultural performances that celebrated Delhi’s rich and diverse heritage.
