Bhiwani, May 11: Sudesh Kataria, Chief Media Advisor to Union Power Minister Manohar Lal, stated that today, the Haryana development model is being cited across the country as an exemplary initiative. Not because it has achieved rapid modernization, but because its greatest strength lies in ensuring dignity and equality for the last person in society. The clearest evidence of this is the ‘No Slip, No Bribe’ policy that has enabled thousands of youth from Dalit families to secure jobs purely on merit.
Sudesh Kataria was addressing the community at an event organized by the Ambedkar Professor Association of Haryana in Bhiwani. He said that when Manohar Lal became the Chief Minister of Haryana in 2014, he began a transformation in traditional politics by prioritizing the upliftment of the underprivileged. The biggest beneficiaries of this step were the Dalits, who stood at the last line of society. Mission Merit provided the most jobs to Dalits, and under the “Triple Engine Government,” their political representation also increased.
Kataria greeted women, elders, and youth with folded hands. He also held a meeting with the SC-ST Union of the Education Board to listen to their concerns. Later, he attended a felicitation event as the chief guest for medal winners of the All India Open Karate Championship organized by Shri Balaji Karate Academy.
He stated that a third consecutive majority government has been formed in Haryana, and the Dalit community has played a pivotal role in this achievement. Additionally, the welfare-oriented policies of former Chief Minister and current Union Power Minister Manohar Lal have formed the foundation for progress, which is now being advanced by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Kataria mentioned that although opposition parties tried to mislead Dalits during the Lok Sabha elections, in the Assembly elections, Dalits gave a resounding reply to Congress’s lies by voting for the BJP and ensuring its third-term victory.
He added that even in the recently concluded municipal corporation, council, and committee elections, Dalit representation has increased. Strengthening political participation is essential for raising the dignity of Dalits and marginalized communities.
End of Dynastic Politics, Rise of Respect-Based Politics
Kataria said that dynastic rule once dominated Haryana politics, but since the formation of the BJP government in 2014 and Manohar Lal becoming the Chief Minister, dynastic politics has not only ended but a new era has begun — an era of upliftment of the underprivileged, Mission Merit, and the delivery of welfare schemes directly to homes via digital portals. The Manohar Model, based on good governance and clean administration, is now being adopted by other states as well. The central government has also begun implementing several of these schemes.
Dalit youth were always qualified for jobs, but due to lack of political connections and the prevalence of ‘slip-bribe’ practices, they were deprived of opportunities. Manohar Lal dismantled nepotism and favoritism in recruitment and launched Mission Merit, which benefitted the marginalized the most.
Housing Dreams of the Poor Will Be Fulfilled
Sudesh Kataria also mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has entrusted Manohar Lal not just with the energy portfolio but also with housing and urban development. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the goal is to provide one crore homes. In addition, urban poor families are being allotted plots at subsidized rates. In rural areas, 100-square-yard plots are being provided through gram panchayats.
He added that under the PM Surya Yojana, solar panels are being installed in poor households to reduce electricity bills to zero.
