CRPF Backbone of India’s Fight Against Naxalism: Amit Shah

New Delhi : The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated its 86th Foundation Day with grandeur and patriotic fervor at Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh — the historic town where the force was first raised in 1939. The event witnessed an impressive Raising Day parade, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Before the ceremonial proceedings began, Mr. Shah paid solemn tributes to the fallen heroes of the CRPF, acknowledging their ultimate sacrifice in safeguarding the integrity and unity of the nation. Accompanied by top CRPF officials and dignitaries, he laid a wreath at the martyrs’ memorial, expressing gratitude on behalf of the entire nation.

Addressing the gathering, the Home Minister hailed the CRPF as the backbone of India’s internal security, highlighting its contributions across various regions and conflict zones. “Be it fighting terrorists in the Kashmir Valley, maintaining peace in the Northeast, or limiting Naxal influence to just four districts, CRPF has played a pivotal role in securing the country,” Shah stated. He emphasized that such achievements reflect the force’s professionalism, dedication, and sacrifice.

Mr. Shah particularly commended the CRPF’s anti-Naxal operations, crediting their consistent efforts for a remarkable decline in Left-Wing Extremism. “There was a time when Naxal violence gripped over 100 districts. Today, due to relentless efforts by CRPF and state police forces, the influence has been contained to merely four districts. This is a historic milestone in India’s internal security journey,” he remarked.

The Union Minister also acknowledged CRPF’s contributions in conducting free and fair elections, ensuring law and order, and supporting disaster relief operations across India. He noted the force’s adaptability in modern-day challenges and called for greater technological upgradation in surveillance and response systems.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav also attended the event and expressed pride that the celebration was hosted in Neemuch, a city with deep-rooted ties to the CRPF’s origins. He lauded the bravery of CRPF personnel and reiterated the state’s commitment to supporting central forces in maintaining national peace and security.
