India, March 13, 2024– Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat’ program, marking a significant milestone in India’s technological advancement. Via video conferencing, PM Modi laid the foundation stones for three semiconductor projects, collectively valued at approximately Rs 1.25 lakh crores. These projects, including a Semiconductor fabrication facility in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) in Gujarat and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities in Morigaon, Assam, and Sanand, Gujarat, signify India’s ambitious journey towards becoming a global semiconductor manufacturing hub. Addressing the nation, Prime Minister Modi underscored the pivotal role of these semiconductor projects in shaping India’s future. He emphasized the importance of indigenous chip manufacturing, highlighting its significance in fostering self-reliance and propelling India towards modernization.
