Ministry of Coal Successfully Concludes Phase 1 of Large-Scale Initiative Under Rashtriya Karmayogi Program

New Delhi, March 19,2025 : The Ministry of Coal has successfully completed Phase 1 of the Large-Scale Initiative (LSI) under the Rashtriya Karmayogi Program, aimed at enhancing the efficiency and skill development of government officials. The initiative is part of the government’s broader vision to improve governance and public service delivery through capacity building and professional training.

The training sessions were held on February 27-28 and March 11-12 at the Civil Services Officers Institute, New Delhi. The sessions were designed to provide government officials with an in-depth understanding of policy formulation, service delivery mechanisms, and citizen-centric governance.

Inauguration and Key Address

The program was inaugurated by Shri B.P. Pati, Joint Secretary & CBU Head, Ministry of Coal, who emphasized the significance of continuous learning in the public sector. Addressing the participants, he stated, “Public service is the backbone of national progress. This initiative is not only about skill enhancement but also about reaffirming our collective responsibility to drive meaningful change and positively impact citizens’ lives. Every official plays a key role in the development of the country.”

Training Highlights and Methodology

The training sessions were interactive, engaging, and structured to equip officials with practical knowledge applicable to their respective roles. The sessions included discussions on policy implementation strategies, best practices in governance, and innovative approaches to problem-solving.

The training was conducted by experienced Master Trainers, including Shri Sudheer Babu Motana and Shri Ram Kumar, Deputy Secretaries, Ministry of Coal, and was facilitated by Shri Uzair Simnani, Program Coordinator, Capacity Building Commission. The trainers guided participants through case studies, scenario-based learning, and real-world problem-solving exercises.

A key focus of the program was on enhancing officials’ abilities to navigate administrative challenges, improve service delivery efficiency, and foster a culture of accountability and innovation. Participants were encouraged to think critically, collaborate, and implement learned strategies in their respective departments.

Valedictory Session and Future Plans

During the valedictory session, Shri Bijoy Samanta, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Coal, commended the officials for their enthusiasm and active participation. He highlighted the significance of continuous professional development and emphasized that such programs equip government officials with the necessary expertise to enhance governance and service delivery.

“The success of this initiative reaffirms our commitment to building a more efficient and skilled workforce in the Ministry of Coal. The knowledge and insights gained from this program will significantly contribute to achieving excellence in public administration,” he stated.

Following the completion of Phase 1, the Ministry of Coal remains dedicated to further strengthening this initiative. Future phases will focus on advanced training modules, specialized courses, and leadership development programs to ensure that officials are well-equipped to meet the evolving challenges of governance.

The Rashtriya Karmayogi Program is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, designed to transform the capacity-building approach of civil servants through digital learning platforms, structured training modules, and on-the-job learning opportunities. The successful completion of Phase 1 of the Large-Scale Initiative marks a significant step toward realizing this vision and ensuring a more efficient, accountable, and citizen-focused governance framework.
