New Delhi, Feb04, 2025 : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House on Monday and extended his heartfelt appreciation for the approval of a new urea plant in Namrup under the Union Budget 2025-26. He described the decision as a transformative step in Assam’s economic and industrial progress.
During their interaction, the Chief Minister highlighted the strategic importance of the upcoming urea plant in bolstering Assam’s agricultural and industrial landscape. He emphasized that the initiative would not only enhance fertilizer production but also create employment opportunities and drive economic growth in the region. Calling it a “game-changer,” Sarma reiterated that this move would significantly contribute to Assam’s developmental trajectory.
Apart from discussing the urea plant, the leaders also deliberated on the preparations for the highly anticipated Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit. The event, aimed at attracting investments and fostering industrial expansion, is set to showcase Assam as a key destination for business and infrastructure development.
According to an official statement, the Chief Minister acknowledged the invaluable guidance received from Prime Minister Modi regarding the summit. A major highlight of the event will be the grand Mega Jhumur Dance Performance, scheduled a day before the summit. The traditional Jhumur dance, performed by tea garden communities, will be a cultural spectacle, celebrating Assam’s rich heritage on a national stage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to grace Advantage Assam 2.0 as the Chief Guest on February 25. He will also attend the Mega Jhumur Dance Performance at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati, underscoring the government’s commitment to promoting Assam’s cultural and economic aspirations.
Taking to the microblogging platform X, Chief Minister Sarma expressed his gratitude, writing, “On behalf of the people of Assam, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Government for approving the Urea Plant in Namrup, a decision that will revolutionize the State’s industrial growth.”
He further added, “I had an insightful discussion with Hon’ble Prime Minister regarding the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit and the Mega Jhumur performance. We are eagerly looking forward to welcoming him to Assam soon.”
With the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit and the launch of key initiatives, Assam is poised for a significant boost in economic and cultural growth, reinforcing its position as a leading investment hub in the Northeast.
