The Impressive TimesMoscow, Jan 29, 2025: Russian air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed 104 Ukrainian drones during overnight operations across various regions, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defence on Wednesday.
The drones were downed over several key areas, including Kursk, Bryansk, Smolensk, Tver, Belgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaluga, Rostov, and Leningrad. The ministry confirmed that these operations took place throughout the night, with Russian forces actively preventing the incursions.
Of the 104 drones intercepted, the majority were neutralized over the Kursk Region, with 47 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) destroyed. In Bryansk, a total of 27 drones were shot down, while 11 were intercepted over the Smolensk Region. Tver saw seven drones being eliminated by the air defence systems, and four drones were brought down over Belgorod.
Additionally, three UAVs were neutralized in Nizhny Novgorod, and three more were destroyed in Kaluga. Smaller numbers of drones were intercepted over Rostov and Leningrad, with one each being shot down in these regions. The Russian Defence Ministry highlighted the efficiency of the air defence systems, which played a pivotal role in preventing potential damage or destruction to civilian infrastructure and military targets.
