New Delhi, January 13, 2025 : A mock drill exercise was conducted on January 13, 2025, at Hotel Hyatt Regency in RK Puram to test the preparedness and quick reaction of the local police, Bomb Disposal Team (BDT), and other emergency response agencies. The exercise simulated a bomb threat scenario, where an unattended handbag suspected to contain an explosive was reported in the hotel’s basement parking area.
The drill began at 5:34 PM when a PCR call was received at the RK Puram Police Station regarding the suspicious bag. Responding swiftly, the Station House Officer (SHO) of RK Puram, accompanied by the in-charge of Police Post Bhikaji Cama Place and their teams, reached the location. Upon arrival, the area was immediately cordoned off with safety tape, and sandbags were placed around the suspicious object to minimize potential damage.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Vasant Vihar also arrived at the scene, providing necessary anti-terror instructions. Multiple emergency response teams, including the Fire Brigade, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), Dog Squad, Crime Team, SWAT team, and ambulances, were mobilized to handle the situation efficiently.
All agencies coordinated seamlessly, demonstrating their readiness to respond to such emergencies. The mock drill concluded successfully at 6:30 PM, following a detailed briefing by ACP, Vasant Vihar.
Speaking about the exercise, DCP South West District, Surendra Choudhary, IPS, emphasized the importance of such drills in ensuring public safety and enhancing coordination among emergency response teams.
This mock drill underscored the commitment of the Delhi Police and allied agencies to maintain vigilance and preparedness in addressing potential threats.
