New Delhi January11, 2025: Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Saturday issued a challenge to Ramesh Bidhuri for a public debate, alleging that the former MP is poised to become the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. During a press conference, Kejriwal also extended his congratulations to Bidhuri, suggesting that the BJP would soon make an official announcement regarding his candidacy. “We have received information that Ramesh Bidhuri’s name will be officially declared as the BJP CM face in the next one or two days. I congratulate Ramesh Bidhuri on this designation,” the former Delhi Chief Minister remarked.
Kejriwal further raised questions about the BJP leader’s contributions to the city’s development during his tenure as an MP, stating, “Ramesh Bidhuri should explain what he has done for Delhi’s growth while serving as an MP. What is his vision for the city?” Kejriwal then proposed a public debate between the chief ministerial candidates of BJP and AAP, asserting, “Once his name is officially announced, there should be a debate between the CM candidates of both parties in front of the people of Delhi.”
Meanwhile, the BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) convened a key meeting on Friday to finalize the list of remaining candidates for the Delhi assembly elections, set for February 5. The meeting, held at the BJP headquarters, was attended by prominent figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, alongside several Delhi BJP leaders.
According to reports from news agency ANI, the primary focus of the meeting was to finalize the candidates for the remaining constituencies in Delhi. The BJP is expected to release the final list of candidates for these constituencies on Saturday. The Delhi elections will take place in a single phase on February 5, with results to be declared on February 8.
