CM directs to Fast-Track Development Projects, Eliminating Delays
In the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the Public Works Department (B&R) officers to incorporate a change in the tender allotment process that would help remove unnecessary delays in development projects caused by contractors abandoning or being disqualified after getting tenders through the online bidding process. He suggested that in the new system, if L-1 (lowest bidder) leaves the project mid-way for any reason, the contract would automatically go to L-2, who would complete the work at the prescribed rates. In this way, no project would be left incomplete because of contractor issues and hence valuable time would not be wasted and overall efficiency of development initiatives would improve. This will bring a significant improvement in the speed of work, thereby completing all projects without inordinate delays, he added. Rs 274 Crore approved for waiver of Monthly Minimum Charges for domestic consumers
Another big relief measure for the consumer was approved in the meeting-the Monthly Minimum Charges would be waived off for households with a sanctioned load of up to 2KW and monthly consumption less than 100 units for an amount of Rs 274 Crore. This measure will benefit around 9.5 lakh households across the state.
It may be recalled that the Chief Minister in his Budget Speech for FY 2024-25 has announced a waiver of Monthly Minimum Charges, aims to ease the financial burden on low-consuming domestic consumers, ensuring that they are not charged for minimum monthly consumption.
