Paris, July 28: In a high-pressure showdown, India’s Ramita Jindal has secured her place in the final of the Women’s 10m air rifle event, showcasing remarkable precision and composure. Jindal finished fifth with an impressive score of 631.5, demonstrating her prowess in a fiercely competitive field.
Jindal’s success is a continuation of her strong track record, including two medals at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. Her performance in Paris adds to her growing reputation as a formidable shooter on the international stage.
Despite Jindal’s achievement, her fellow competitor Elavenil Valarivan narrowly missed advancing to the finals. Valarivan scored 630.7, placing her tenth, just outside the top eight required to compete for the medals. This close miss highlights the intense level of competition and the fine margins that often separate success from disappointment in shooting sports.
The Indian shooting team has faced several such near-misses during these Games, adding emotional weight to their quest for medals. On the opening day, Sarabjot Singh, along with Jindal and Arjun Babuta, also came close to advancing but fell short.
Earlier in the competition, both Valarivan and Jindal faced challenges in the mixed team event, missing out on podium finishes. However, their individual performances continue to bring hope and demonstrate India’s potential in the sport.
As Jindal moves forward to the finals, the Indian contingent and fans remain optimistic about her chances of securing a medal and continuing India’s legacy in shooting sports. Her journey reflects the dedication and resilience required to compete at the highest levels and serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across the nation.
