After T20 WC heroics, Saurabh Netravalkar stars for Washington Freedom in MLC 2024

7 July 2024:-USA fast bowler Saurabh Netravalkar continued his impressive form in Major League Cricket 2024 (MLC 2024) by helping Washington Freedom secure their first win of the tournament against MI New York on July 6. The left-arm seamer claimed 3/24 in four overs, dismissing key players Kieron Pollard, Rashid Khan, and Anrich Nortje. MI New York was restricted to 154/9 in their 20 overs. Washington Freedom, at 55/1 after 7.4 overs, were declared winners by four runs under the DLS method when rain interrupted the game.

Netravalkar has been rising rapidly in the cricket world, especially after his performances in the T20 World Cup for the USA. He was the highest wicket-taker for his team, with six wickets from as many innings, averaging 20.83 with an economy of 6.63. He gained significant attention by defending 18 runs against Pakistan in a super over and dismissing star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma during a match against India.

Beyond cricket, Netravalkar’s diverse profile has also made headlines. Born in Mumbai, he played for India in the U-19 World Cup 2010 before migrating to the USA, where he works as a developer at Oracle. According to his sister Nidhi, he even works in the team hotel after matches and enjoys playing the ukulele in his free time.
