New Delhi- A special initiative by the Delhi Division of Northern Railway in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) saw the Mosquito Terminator Train being flagged off from New Delhi railway station today. The move aims to prevent mosquito breeding along railway tracks in the Delhi area, contributing to public health and safety.

The train was inaugurated by Raja Iqbal Singh, Mayor of Delhi, along with Pushpesh Raman Tripathi, Divisional Railway Manager (Delhi), and senior officials of the Delhi Division.

Dubbed the “Mosquito Terminator on Wheels”, the train will cover approximately 50 km per trip. A truck-mounted power sprayer, provided by the MCD and loaded onto a special wagon named ‘DBKM’, will spray anti-larva solution during the train’s movement. The spray sanitizes areas up to 50–60 meters on either side of the track.

On its inaugural run, the train covered the route from New Delhi to Rathdana via Adarsh Nagar and Badli, before returning to New Delhi. The operation will continue across other areas of the NCR region until 27 September 2025, with weekly spraying totaling 12 rounds over six weeks to cover the peak mosquito breeding season.

Northern Railway is also implementing preventive measures in railway colonies and land, including cleaning overhead water tanks and replacing missing or damaged lids to reduce mosquito breeding grounds.

This joint effort highlights the commitment of Northern Railway and MCD to enhance public health and ensure safer living conditions for residents living near railway tracks.
