Beirut, March 10: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out strikes on facilities associated with Al‑Qard Al‑Hassan Association in Lebanon, according to Israeli military officials.
The IDF said the operation was aimed at infrastructure used by the financial body, which it alleges serves as an economic arm of Hezbollah. Israeli authorities claim the association helps manage and channel funds that support the group’s activities.
In a statement, the Israeli military said the targeted sites were part of a network used for financial operations linked to Hezbollah. The IDF maintained that the strikes were conducted as part of ongoing efforts to weaken the group’s logistical and financial capabilities.
Al-Qard Al-Hassan operates across Lebanon and is known for providing interest-free loans and financial services, particularly within communities aligned with Hezbollah. However, Israel and several Western countries have accused the institution of functioning as a financial backbone for the group.
The development comes amid heightened tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border in recent months, with intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters raising fears of broader regional escalation.
Lebanese authorities have not immediately released detailed information about damage or casualties following the strikes. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
