Indian National Injured After Missile Debris Falls in Abu Dhabi Residential Area

Incident in Al Shawamekh follows successful interception by UAE air defence systems

Abu Dhabi, March 23, 2026: An Indian citizen sustained minor injuries after debris from an intercepted ballistic missile landed in the Al Shawamekh locality of Abu Dhabi, authorities confirmed on Monday.

According to officials, the missile was neutralised by the United Arab Emirates’ air defence systems, but fragments fell into a residential zone, leading to the injury. Emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the site to manage the situation and ensure safety.

Authorities stated that the injured individual did not suffer serious harm and received prompt assistance. They also urged residents to rely only on verified information and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports.

The incident comes amid rising regional tensions, with repeated missile and drone attacks reported across the Gulf as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East intensifies.
