New Delhi, January 30: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has announced major developments ahead of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, with Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stating that the event has received an overwhelming international response. The summit is set to position India at the center of global conversations on the future of artificial intelligence.
Speaking at a media briefing in New Delhi, Vaishnaw said India’s AI ecosystem is progressing in a structured and mission-driven manner, with a strong focus on real-world deployment of technology. The summit, scheduled to take place from February 16 to 20, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, will be the first global AI gathering of its scale to be hosted in the Global South.

The Minister highlighted that Indian technology firms have developed over 200 specialized AI solutions tailored to sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, governance, and logistics. Several of these solutions are expected to be showcased or launched during the summit.
He also pointed to substantial investments flowing into AI infrastructure, noting that funding in this area is already nearing tens of billions of dollars, with further growth anticipated. To support long-term development, AI-focused learning modules and infrastructure will be introduced across 500 universities, strengthening India’s talent pipeline.
During the event, MeitY released a publication titled “The Impact Agenda: Leadership Reflections,” which compiles perspectives from nearly 60 global industry leaders. The compendium explores how artificial intelligence can drive innovation while ensuring inclusive growth and societal benefit.

Officials shared that preparatory consultations have been conducted through multiple thematic working groups focusing on the guiding principles of People, Planet, and Progress. Regional AI conferences held in states including Meghalaya, Gujarat, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Kerala helped integrate diverse local priorities into the national AI roadmap.
In addition, hundreds of pre-summit engagements have been organized both in India and abroad, reinforcing the summit’s collaborative approach. These activities include international dialogues, academic discussions, startup showcases, and policy consultations.The summit week will feature hundreds of curated sessions, exhibitions, and leadership discussions across major venues in New Delhi. A large-scale AI exhibition will display practical applications of artificial intelligence from governments, startups, research institutions, and global corporations.
Participation is expected from heads of state, government ministers, corporate leaders, researchers, and technology pioneers from across the world. Leading global technology firms and innovation-driven organizations are also expected to take part.
According to MeitY officials, a central theme of the summit will be the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies. Discussions will aim to build shared understanding around AI safety, governance frameworks, standards, and equitable access, ensuring that technological progress benefits societies at all levels.
With strong global engagement and extensive groundwork already in place, the India AI Impact Summit 2026 is poised to become a landmark platform shaping the next phase of international AI cooperation and innovation.
