NEW DELHI, 2 APRIL 2025: In a decisive push to rid Punjab of its drug menace, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government launched its ‘Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh’ (War Against Drugs) campaign in Ludhiana on Wednesday. AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann administered the oath to National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets and flagged off their march past, rallying the youth to take charge of the fight against narcotics.
During this, the AAP Chief declared that every Punjabi must unite to wipe out drugs from every street, village, and city. “If our youth fall into this trap, Punjab will be ruined—this cannot be tolerated anymore,” he asserted. With Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia and other dignitaries in attendance, AAP government signaled an all-out battle against the drug trade, placing the responsibility squarely on the shoulders of Punjab’s youth.
Addressing the massive gathering, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal emphasized, stating, “The future of Punjab rests in the hands of its youth. The young people attending the event would shape Punjab’s future as future Chief Ministers, ministers, MLAs, and industrialists. However, if the drug menace was not eradicated today, the future of Punjab would be at stake.”
“Our previous governments and political parties destroyed an entire generation of Punjab for a few pieces of silver, power, and political gains. They allowed drugs to infiltrate every village, street, and neighborhood in Punjab. This was a betrayal of Punjab, and God will never forgive them,” said theAAP Supremo.
Arvind Kejriwal highlighted that under AAP’s governance, Punjab now has an honest and patriotic administration that cannot be bought or intimidated. He affirmed that the kind of crackdown on drugs undertaken by the AAP government in just one month had never been seen in India’s 75-year history. “Drug traffickers made money by selling drugs and built lavish mansions. Today, those mansions are being demolished by bulldozers. No drug peddler will be spared in Punjab. Punjab Police is doing a commendable job,” he asserted.
Making an emotional appeal to the youth, the AAP Chief urged children to stay away from drugs. “You are like my younger brothers and children. Your parents have dreams for you. Every child is precious to their parents. Students in schools and colleges dream of a bright future. But when a child falls into bad company and starts using drugs, all dreams are shattered. Families are destroyed, and parents suffer in ways that children cannot even imagine. I have seen many children ruin their lives due to drugs. I urge you—never fall into this trap,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal called upon the youth to take responsibility for saving their friends and relatives from drugs. “If you see a friend, relative, or family member getting into drugs, it is your duty to lovingly guide them out of it. Punjab now has its own government. To free Punjab from drugs, AAP is setting up Out Clinics, Rehab Centers, and Drug Prevention Centers. If you see someone using drugs, help them get out of it. There is no greater service to humanity. God will bless you immensely for this noble act,” he affirmed.
Arvind Kejriwal emphasized that the fight against drugs is not just the government’s or police’s responsibility—it is the responsibility of Punjab’s youth. Take charge of your own village so that no one dares to sell drugs. If you have any information about drug peddling, call 9779100200. This is a chatbot number that keeps your identity confidential while ensuring the police receive the information. Since your number won’t be revealed, no one can harass you.
“Today, let us take three vows: I will never do drugs, I will help those around me get out of drugs, and if I find a drug dealer, I will report them on the chatbot number,” Arvind Kejriwal declared.
He further stated that the youth are Punjab’s hope. “We are working tirelessly to provide quality education and employment opportunities for Punjab’s children. We are building sports grounds in every village and ward for volleyball, cricket, and football to encourage youth towards sports instead of drugs. Social and cultural activities will be organized across Punjab. The AAP government is doing a lot for the youth, and we need their cooperation. If the entire Punjab supports us, we will collectively create a prosperous and ‘Rangla Punjab’,” he said.
No Other State Government Has Shown the Courage to Crack Down on Drugs Like AAP in Punjab: CM Bhagwant Mann
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating drugs from the state, stating that the ‘Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh’ campaign has transformed into a mass movement. “We are happy to see that people across Punjab are taking it upon themselves to make their villages drug-free. Many village councils have pledged to rid their communities of drugs. To aid this fight, we have launched the WhatsApp helpline number 9779100200 for reporting drug peddlers. Your identity will remain confidential, and we will take immediate action. People across Punjab are appreciating the campaign and praising the government’s strict action,” he said.
The Punjab CM made it clear that no one would be allowed to sell drugs and build lavish houses with drug money. “We will bulldoze their mansions. Our priority is to free Punjab’s children from drugs, provide them with quality education, and secure employment opportunities so that they never fall into this trap again. Drugs are being sold in many states across India, but no other state government has shown the courage to take tough action like AAP in Punjab. Punjab Police is doing an outstanding job. This is a long battle, but we will not stop until we completely eradicate drugs from Punjab,” he asserted.
