Panchkula: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana visited several grain markets to evaluate the state’s readiness for the upcoming Rabi procurement season 2026–27. His tour included major mandis in Panchkula, Panchkula, and Raipur Rani.
While reviewing the arrangements, the minister emphasized that the procurement process for wheat and mustard should be carried out efficiently, ensuring that farmers do not encounter any difficulties. He instructed officials to keep sufficient stocks of packaging material, speed up the lifting of crops, and maintain smooth functioning across all mandis.
Rana further directed that farmers must receive their payments within a strict timeframe of 72 hours after procurement. He also highlighted the need to strengthen basic amenities at market yards, including sanitation, availability of drinking water, and overall infrastructure.
For the 2026–27 season, the government has set the Minimum Support Price (MSP) at ₹2,585 per quintal for wheat and ₹6,200 per quintal for mustard. Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the minister stated that ensuring fair returns and timely payments to farmers remains a key priority.
Officials present during the visit assured that all necessary preparations are on track and that procurement operations will be carried out smoothly without any major issues.
