Photographer Neeraj Chopra retires with three conditions, NOC pending and probe clause included

Chandigarh/New Delhi: : The retirement of a Haryana Information Department employee has sparked controversy, compelling the government to issue a conditional retirement order along with directions for financial recovery and withholding of certain benefits. As per the order issued by Director General,IPR&L Department Haryana IAS K.Makrand Pandurang, Neeraj Chopra, posted as Photographer in the O/o Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi, retired on February 28, 2026 (afternoon). However, his retirement has been made subject to three specific conditions. According to the order, if any irregularity or scam is found during investigation, action will be taken against the employee.

The retirement is subject to the final outcome of various enquiries pending against him. He has also been directed to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) in respect of items issued to him by the Photo Section. Further, his leave encashment payment will be withheld for recovery of excess payment amounting to Rs.2,08,650. The recovery pertains to two advance increments granted to him on July 1, 2015 and January 1, 2017.The government has also directed that other retirement benefits will remain on hold until all conditions are fulfilled. Sources in the department said the employee’s tenure remained controversial, leading to the issuance of the conditional order. It is further claimed that even after retirement, Neeraj Chopra is trying to secure reappointment and is reportedly seeking adjustment to the post of Chief Photographer in the government’s Communication Section.
