Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel Hosts Commonwealth Delegation Ahead of 2030 Centenary Games

Gandhinagar, April 8: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday hosted a high level delegation from Commonwealth Sport as preparations gather pace for the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games to be held in Ahmedabad.

The visit marks the first official engagement by the international body since Ahmedabad was confirmed as the host city for the historic edition of the Games.

During the visit, the delegation held detailed discussions with senior state officials and reviewed the progress of infrastructure and operational planning for the mega sporting event.

Officials also conducted site inspections of proposed venues, assessing readiness and alignment with global standards required for hosting the Games.

Chief Minister Patel reiterated Gujarat’s commitment to delivering the Games efficiently, highlighting a focus on timely execution, quality infrastructure, and effective coordination.

The delegation was led by Commonwealth Sport President Dr Donald Rukare, who engaged with state leadership on key aspects of planning and international collaboration.

The 2030 Commonwealth Games will mark the centenary of the event, making it a significant milestone in global sporting history.

Officials said the Games are expected to accelerate development in areas such as sports infrastructure, urban mobility, tourism, and community engagement in Gujarat.

The visit is also seen as a transition from the planning phase to the execution stage, with greater emphasis now on implementation and delivery.
