Faridabad, February 24, 2026:The death toll in the massive industrial fire and explosions in Faridabad’s Mujesar area has risen to six after a firefighter succumbed to severe burn injuries during treatment.
Ranbir, 41, a firefighter posted at the NIT fire station and a resident of Atali village in Ballabhgarh, died at the AIIMS Trauma Centre on Sunday night around 9 pm. He had sustained critical burns while battling the blaze earlier this month.
Another injured victim, 38 year old Brijpal from Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, also passed away during treatment at Safdarjung Hospital in the early hours of Sunday. Police said Brijpal was living in Jivan Nagar in Faridabad and is believed to have rushed to help when the fire broke out, suffering extensive burns in the process. His employment details are still being verified.
Earlier, firefighter Bhuvi Chand had died at Safdarjung Hospital on Friday afternoon after fighting the February 16 blaze. Sub inspector Ravi Chand also succumbed to injuries on Saturday morning. Two other victims, Abhishek Monga and Pradeep Kumar, had died last week while undergoing treatment in Delhi.
According to police, the fire erupted around 4 pm when sparks from a steel plate cutting machine fell into drums filled with chemicals, triggering an explosion. Around 20 to 25 drums were reportedly stored close together, leading to a chain of blasts that quickly engulfed the premises.
The inferno devastated the unit of Kalkaji Lubricants and damaged a portion of an adjoining factory. Several vehicles parked within a 100 metre radius were reduced to ashes.
An FIR has been registered at Mujesar police station against the owners and managers of the industrial units under charges of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means. Investigators are examining safety protocols and storage practices at the site.
Authorities continue to probe the incident as families of the deceased mourn the loss of lives in one of the area’s most severe industrial accidents in recent years.
