Faridabad: On the occasion of World Parkinson’s Day, an awareness seminar on Parkinson’s disease was organized at Accord Hospital, Sector 86, Greater Faridabad. The seminar was chaired by Dr. Rohit Gupta, Chairman of the Neurology Department at the hospital. Doctors, patients, and their families participated enthusiastically in the event.

Dr. Gupta explained that Parkinson’s is a serious neurological disorder that affects the brain’s motor control system. Key symptoms include tremors in the hands and feet, imbalance while walking, muscle stiffness, and difficulty in speaking. He emphasized that if the symptoms are identified in time, treatment can help patients lead a normal life.

During the seminar, Dr. Gupta also shared information about the new technologies being used in the treatment of Parkinson’s. He said that options like Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), Botox therapy, advanced medications, and physiotherapy are providing significant relief to patients. He further added that with proper use of these techniques, the progression of the disease can be slowed down.

Attendees at the seminar shared their concerns related to Parkinson’s with Dr. Gupta, who addressed them in simple and easy-to-understand language. Dr. Gupta also pointed out that there are many misconceptions about the disease in society, which need to be cleared.

The objective of the seminar was to make patients aware of the disease and to update doctors on modern treatment methods. Patients asked several questions about the disease, all of which were answered by the doctor with great care.
