LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu Visits Traffic HQ Todapur, Felicitates Traffic Praharis and Flags Off New Fleet

LG reviews traffic management, boosts citizen participation and operational readiness

New Delhi : A visit to the Traffic Headquarters Todapur was made by Sh. Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Honourable Lieutenant Governor, Delhi, 02.04.2026. The visit was marked by Felicitation of Traffic Praharis who had contributed to promoting road discipline through enforcement. He was welcomed by the Commissioner of Police, Delhi Satish Golchha and Special Commissioner of Police, Traffic Management Division, Sh. Neeraj Thakur and other officers of the Traffic unit. After the ceremonial guard of honour, the LG felicitated the best performing Praharis associated with the Delhi Traffic Police.

​The Traffic Prahari incentives were declared in September 2024 by the then LG, Delhi whereby citizens can prosecute traffic rules violators through Traffic Prahari App available in Play Store. The first winner is awarded Rs.50,000/- second winner Rs.25,000/-, third winner Rs.15,000/- and fourth winner Rs.10,000/- based on their performance during the month. The Hon’ble LG awarded citizens for the period March 2025 to February 2026. 21 such individuals were rewarded for their outstanding contribution towards effective prosecution using Traffic Prahari App.

Additionally, a new fleet of 38 Scooties was flagged off for women traffic police personnel. These Scooties are aimed at enhancing quicker response in congested areas to remove traffic jam and enabling confidence building through effective presence on the roads. The initiative would greatly support women officers in their day-to-day duties, strengthen their operational capabilities and promote greater participation in field assignments .

Two newly procured disaster response vehicles armed with capabilities and equipments like steel cutter, tree cutter, floating water pump, generator, tower light etc. to meet the needs of traffic personnel in management of road crisis were also flagged off.

LG, Delhi was also briefed about the overall working of Traffic unit including regulation and prosecution aspects. He also reviewed the Enforcement unit and Public Interface Unit (PIU) in the Traffic Headquarters. He was also briefed on the tangible outcomes and effectiveness of present system as well as prospective planning on managing the capital’s road situation with a focus on modernization and decongestion.
