Delhi Legislative Assembly’s House Renovation including installation of Solar Power Plant : To be Completed by 27 July 2025

New Delhi, 16 July 2025 – The Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta, has convened a high level meeting to review the ongoing renovation and modernization works, which are progressing at a rapid pace. In the meeting Gupta was appraised that the renovation of the entire House , including the installation of a solar power plant, will be completed by 27 July 2025.

The meeting was attended by Dharmendra Kumar , Chief Secretary of the Government of NCT of Delhi;  Bipul Pathak Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department ; Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works Department; Principal Secretary, Home Department; Principal Secretary, Services Department; Principal Secretary, Art, Culture & Language Department; Principal Secretary, General Administration Department; Principal Secretary, Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs; Secretary.

During the review meeting , the Speaker was apprised of the progress of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project, alongside other ongoing modernization and renovation initiatives within the Assembly premises. Officials from the PWD informed the Speaker that the entire renovation, including the installation of a solar power plant, will be completed by 27 July 2025. These efforts are being undertaken in preparation for the upcoming Monsoon Session, expected to commence in end of July or early August.

Gupta was briefed on the extensive measures being implemented to modernize the Assembly’s infrastructure, with the NeVA project advancing in full swing. This initiative aims to equip the Assembly with state-of-the-art systems to enhance its functioning and transition it into a fully paperless legislature by the Monsoon Session.

Among the key upgrades, the Delhi Legislative Assembly is introducing an advanced Digital Conference and Networking System under NeVA to foster transparency, efficiency, and paperless governance. This system will feature smart delegate units with integrated microphones, voting panels, RFID/NFC access, and multilingual interpretation support. Members will be provided with iPads to access agendas and documents in real time, complemented by an automated audio-visual system with HD cameras, centralized control, and a secure, high-speed network with reliable power backup. These modern facilities will enable legislators to discharge their duties more effectively.

The Speaker underscored the significance of adopting modern technology in legislative processes and reaffirmed the Assembly Secretariat’s commitment to strengthening efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in the functioning of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, ensuring it remains responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.
