Massive Sarv Samaj Maha Panchayat held in Faridabad to save Anangpur and residential colonies

National leaders, farmer unions, and thousands of citizens unite at Surajkund to demand immediate halt to demolitions; 30-day ultimatum issued to government

Faridabad: A historic Sarv Samaj Maha Panchayat was held at the Surajkund roundabout in Faridabad to protest against the demolition of the ancient village Anangpur and several long-established residential colonies. The gathering witnessed a massive turnout of people from across the country, leaders from multiple political parties, farmer unions, and social groups representing the unity of all 36 communities and 52 khaps.
The primary demand of the Maha Panchayat was to save the centuries-old settlements from being razed under the forest area demarcation and seek legal and political solutions from the government.

The event was marked by passionate speeches and open declarations of support from national figures. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait emphasized the need for a united front, declaring that if required, citizens should be prepared to stand in front of bulldozers. He criticized the administration for targeting specific communities under a political agenda and urged people to take the battle to the streets and Parliament.

Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda extended full support, assuring that every decision taken by the Maha Panchayat would be honoured. He accused the government of failing to defend the matter effectively in the Supreme Court and said that the demolition drive was being carried out to benefit a few capitalists with an eye on the Aravalli land. Deepender Singh Hooda made it clear that this was not a caste-based movement, but a collective fight of farmers and common people against injustice.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala slammed the forest department for acting selectively in the name of court orders. He stated that the demolitions were not mandated by the Supreme Court and were being executed under pressure from vested interests. He pledged full support to the people’s movement and warned that the flames of this struggle would reach Delhi.

Kairana MP Iqra Hasan expressed solidarity, calling herself “the daughter of the struggle,” and promised to raise the issue both in Parliament and on the ground. She assured the people that their voices would not go unheard.

Advisor to the Anangpur Sangharsh Samiti, Vijay Pratap, thanked the thousands who joined the Maha Panchayat and condemned the forest department for misrepresenting facts in court. He highlighted the livelihood threat to over one lakh people connected to the local economy—farmhouses, banquet halls, electricians, caterers, decorators, and event workers—due to the department’s unjust classification of lands as forest areas.
The Maha Panchayat was chaired by Arun Jaildar and Surender Solanki, representing the leadership of 52 and 360 khaps respectively. It was held under the guidance of Attar Singh, president of the Anangpur Sangharsh Samiti. Speakers demanded that 2,500 acres of village land, mistakenly categorized as PLPA forest, be returned to locals. They called for an ordinance in both the Vidhan Sabha and Parliament to resolve the issue and for compensation to be given for any structures already demolished.

In a strong resolution, the Maha Panchayat gave the government a deadline of 30 days to act. If the demands are not met within this timeframe, the Sangharsh Samiti announced it would be compelled to take stricter steps in the next phase of the agitation.

On this occasion thousands of people including Premkrishna Arya, Anant Ram Tanwar, Sahiram wrestler, Parikshit, Manu Bidhuri, Mahabal Mishra, Vedpal Lohia, Munendra wrestler, Rajendra Chaprana, Narendra Singh Lado Sarai, Dhamendra Pradhan, Sanjay Chhokar, Jitendra Chandelia, Sumit Gaur, Ranbir Chandila, Satbir wrestler, Kunwar Devendra Singh, Akash Gurjar, Baljeet Kaushik supported the Maha Panchayat.

The unity displayed at the Surajkund roundabout sent a resounding message to the authorities—that the people stand united in defense of their homes, heritage, and rights, and will not back down until justice is delivered.
